MCKINNEY AREA NEWCOMERS CLUB
Carol Furchak, President
Welcome to the McKinney Area Newcomers Club information site where countless opportunities can open a new chapter in your life. While our name insinuates newcomers to the area, many of our members have been established here for years. If you are interested in making new friends, seeking new experiences, finding friends for a lifetime, diverse activities, writing a new chapter in your book of life, finding others who enjoy some of your same passions, or want to learn more about what our city has to offer, you have come to the right place.
The McKinney Area Newcomers Club meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Join us at no charge at the Collin County Community College – Conference Center – on Community Drive in McKinney. At every 3rd Tuesday meeting we have an event happening. Typically, an educational speaker or an entertainer. If you choose to join the club, you can sign up at the meeting or online and pay your dues. Once you are a paid member you can join any of over 40 Interest Groups and go on social outings with the club members.
Interest Groups are members with the same interests in playing specific games, or going bowling, or reading books, or seeing a movie & having lunch or a myriad of other fun things to do with like-minded folks.
When Newcomers was established more than 30 years ago in McKinney, Texas, the very first organized Interest Group played Bunco. True to our roots, to this date we still play Bunco and have 6 different groups playing on different days and times of the week! We also play varieties of dominos and card games. I know you can find an Interest Group that will suit your style. AND Interest Groups are a terrific way to make deep lasting friendships.
We try to arrange one social outing a month. These include visiting sites in Dallas, touring the Arboretum, the lavender fields in bloom, the bluebonnets in bloom, the zoo, museums, etc. Social Outings are an additional charge and often include motor coach transportation.
Another very important part of our work is supporting several not-for-profits in the McKinney area. We adopt a charity each month and provide them with whatever they identify as the needs of their clients. For example: Hope Clinic, The Community Garden, The Little Free Pantry, Habitat Christmas gifts for children, Samaritan Village. Some of our members become vital volunteers working with these groups.
We welcome all men and women who live in the McKinney area whether you’re new to town or have been here a while. Come visit us on the 3rd Tuesday of the month and hopefully you’ll stay to join the club and it’s work in the community.
Carol Furchak, President 2023-2024
Whether you are new to the area or not, our club welcomes you. Please join the men and women of our club at our monthly meeting. We meet on the 3rd Tuesday of every month. In the event of inclement weather, McKinney Area Newcomers Club follows the McKinney Independent School District with respect to meeting or canceling events.
Groups & Social Events
Our interest groups are where the fun begins. The club has over 40 groups open for participation. You must be a fully paid-up member of the club to participate in any interest group. If you bring a new interest to the club, a new group can be created.
See a listing of the interest groups with descriptions.
Active Newcomer Members are able to access group leader contact information, dates, times and locations via our Club Member page. Please check that list for regular updates to individual group data and how to become involved.
Involvement & Leadership
There are many ways to get involved, either through the Board or Group Leader. This is a fun way to meet others and provide good community service.
Our Social Events
We have all kinds of interest groups, tours, and events. We’re sure you will find something you like. If not, we’re always willing to start new groups. You’ll be surprised at just how much you have in common with our members.
